A medical facility: how to ask a question without revealing too much

Reading time approx. 2 min · Fundacja One Reason

Your goal

You want to obtain information about a procedure, not describe the entire family conflict.

A safe structure

  1. Introduce yourself.
  2. State that the matter concerns a child.
  3. Ask about the procedure and the documents required.
  4. Do not describe the conflict unless it is necessary.

Example

"Hello, I would like to ask what documents are needed for a parent to obtain information about a child's visit or medical records. I want to make sure I follow the correct procedure."

What not to do

Do not attach medical records to your first general question if the facility has not yet asked for them.
