The school's electronic record: how to ask for access without a fight

Reading time approx. 2 min · Fundacja One Reason

Start with information

Not every institution uses the same system. Ask which communication channel they use and what details are needed to set up access.

A simple message template

  1. Introduce yourself as a parent.
  2. Ask about the procedure for getting access.
  3. Add your contact details.
  4. Make it clear that you care about the organisational side of your child's life.

What to avoid

Don't write that the institution is "breaking the law" if you haven't first checked the documents and procedures. Don't drag a teacher into a dispute between parents.

If the institution refuses

Calmly ask them to state the reason for the refusal and what documents are needed to clarify the situation.

Next step

Save the correspondence in your organiser and your log of events.
