Remote contact: phone, video, and messages

A principle of caution

Contact at a distance is still contact. If there are restrictions, supervision, or a ban on communication, do not try to replace one channel with another without checking the document.

What to write down

Note which channel was agreed on, at what time, whether the call was made, whether it was answered, and whether a short organisational message was sent.

How to write to your child

If contact is allowed, what you write to your child should be simple and free of the weight of the conflict. Do not ask your child what the other parent is doing. Do not ask them to pass on messages.

A neutral example

"I'm here. I remember our talk. If it doesn't work out today, we'll try again calmly next time."

When to block

Where there is a ban on contact, approach, or communication, message templates to the child should be turned off. Only the lawful route to support remains.
