The child is not a messenger

Do not ask the child to pass messages to adults. Do not ask the child what the other parent says. Do not make the child choose. A child has the right to love both parents and does not have to carry adult conflict.

Better sentences:

• “You do not have to choose sides.”
• “I am here and I will stay here.”
• “I love you regardless of what is happening.”
